The Friends of Leesland Park Committee Meeting - Thursday 15 December 2016 – Gipsy Queen PH. 

Present: Hilary Percival - Chairperson, Claire Percival - Vice Chairperson, Jim Parks - Treasurer,  Philip Sandall - Secretary.

Meeting Opened - The Chairperson opened the meeting at 1934 welcoming all present.

1.      Minutes of last meeting and matters arising  

1a     Heather Ayling Memorial Garden (Interpretation Board) – The Secretary updated the committee with the details of his recent meeting with Councillor Peter Chegwyn. JPa advised he had no further news regarding the costs of replacement board but would give the contractor a nudge. It was agreed the Secretary would update Councillor Chegwyn and in addition ask what style of legs were required/preferred by family.

1b     Accounts – £4,148.28 as at 02.12.16.  

2.      Volunteer Workdays (November) - a good turn out led a range of tasks being completed including a rake and collect in the conservation meadow, removal of unwanted saplings and chipping from same. JPa further advised the Mid Week volunteers had been employed on-site burning off the cut bramble.   

2b    December - It was agreed that we would meet at 1200 on Sunday 18th for some light tasks ahead of the Santa’s In The Park event.  

3.      Outdoor Gym – the Secretary had previously advised members that planning permission had finally been submitted to Gosport Borough Council. He added that details of the application were available to read online and that we should receive notification of permission to build or otherwise by the end of January 2017. With regard to funding, the Secretary advised the Tesco Community Fund had a top limit of £5000 per application so it was likely that we would need to find several sources to fund purchase of equipment. As a possible starter he outlined details of the People's Health Trust and the workshop he had attended on Monday 12th December at Gosport Voluntary Action to help with building a bid.  

4.    Santa’s in the Park -  the Chairperson advised the meeting that Reilly Enterprises had very kindly offered us the loan of their grotto for this event - all happy however, to continue with the plan to use the Countryside Section ‘people carrier’ as previously discussed. JPa added he would ensure the trailer was suitably lit and decorated for the event. The Chairperson advised Mark and Sheila Smith would be managing supply of Fairtrade hot drinks and the Secretary reported that staff and students from Motiv8 South would be providing the entertainment.
